Ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls, in an apparent show of strength and piety, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar today. He was accompanied by Punjab Congress candidates, including CM Charanjit Singh Channi and state unit head Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The Rahul Gandhi kicked off the Punjab campaign by paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib and taking part in Langar along with 117 other party candidates. Gandhi is also scheduled to address a virtual rally ‘Navi Soch Nava Punjab’ at Mithapur in Jalandhar. This is Gandhi’s first visit to a poll-bound state since the imposition of a ban on physical rallies by the Election Commission of India due to surge in Covid-19 cases. The Congress has announced 109 candidates for the Assembly polls. The Punjab Legislative Assembly elections will be held on 20 February 2022. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March.
