Copper futures settled lower on Friday as the US dollar strengthened against a basket of major rivals after the US Federal Reserve indicated it could tighten monetary policy faster than previously expected, making copper costlier for non-US buyers.
Copper futures for March delivery fell $0.1135 to settle at $4.31 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 2.81 percent at $9,507.50 a ton.
