Elections keep happening but budget session very important, must make it fruitful: PM Modi

Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi today said elections keep happening but Parliament’s Budget session is very important and urged all MPs to make it fruitful. He said Budget and related proceedings during this period draw a blueprint for the coming year.

Ahead of the start of the session, Modi said that in today’s global situation, there are a lot of opportunities for India and the country's economic progress, vaccination program against COVID-19, and India-made vaccines have built confidence across the world. He said it is true that elections have an impact on (Parliament) Sessions and debates but elections have their own place and will keep happening. He also expressed hope that all parties will discuss issues with an open mind in Parliament to take the country to new ‘heights of development’. The session comes ahead of assembly polls from February 10 to March 7 in five states- Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Goa. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March.
