Asian equity benchmarks are mostly closed on Tuesday, as on observing Lunar New Year holidays. Japan’s Nikkei extended gains to third straight session cheered with the positive cues from Wall Street and on firmer crude oil rates. Even though, investments got limited after Japan registered 70,000 daily new cases for the sixth straight day and marked record highs each day in the last two weeks. Tokyo and 33 of the 47 prefectures have been placed under a quasi-state of emergency last week. Major exports were high with weaker yen.

Nikkei 225 up by 58.62 points or 0.22% to 27,060.60.
