AAP reaches out to ST community in Goa with eight-point action plan

Ahead of upcoming Assembly election in Goa, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today announced an eight-point action plan for the welfare of the Planned Tribes (ST) in the state, to try to ‘end’ the injustice inflicted on the community by the previous governments.

On the eight-point action plan, he said if AAP occupies power in Goa, 12.5 per cent of the total state budget would be dedicated for the welfare of the ST community under the Tribal Sub Plan. Arvind Kejriwal promised free education, school and free medical treatment to members of the ST community, and priority in Jobs, if AAP voted to power. He said that nearly 3,000 posts intended for the ST community in various government departments were vacant and these positions will be filled on an urgent basis. He also said that the ST community women will get Rs 1,000 per month benefit, while unemployed youths will be given Rs 3,000 per month. Kejriwal added that the ST population will also get priority in private sector employment.

The party has fielded candidates in all the 40 Assembly constituencies in Goa, and two of them belong to the ST community.
