Copper futures end higher on thin supplies

05 Feb 2022 Evaluate

Copper futures ended higher on Friday following thin supplies in the market. Even though, data that the US economy created far more jobs than expected in January fuelled the chances of a larger Federal Reserve interest rate increase at the March policy meeting, that could curb growth and demand for the metal.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.0165 to settle at $4.4875 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 0.09 percent at $9,841.50 a ton.
