Coal India plans to engage independent certifying body to ensure quality

13 Dec 2012 Evaluate

In order to ensure the quality of coal it supplies to customers, Coal India (CIL), the world’s largest coal miner has chalked out a plan to engage an independent third party sampling certification. The company will be engaging some internationally accredited agency of high repute for which it would seek a bid in the next two-three months.

At present, the coal sampling provision provides for a joint sampling mechanism at the loading end. However, the power producers have been urging that this mechanism is not efficient.

Recently, the company had planned to set up 20 coal washeries (Coking and Non-Coking) having total capacity of 111.1 MT of raw coal throughput.
