HOEC to carry out ‘Surya’ well lifting programme through rigless intervention

13 Dec 2012 Evaluate

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) has de-hired the rig and shall carry out the ‘Surya’ well lifting programme through rigless intervention in a fair weather period so as to be cost effective. The company has taken this step as the well activation operation could be time consuming and thereby prohibitively expensive through the use of the rig.

Besides, the company shall be assessing the impact of the Surya Well which is located at, if any, on the potential of this Field together with DGH. The company has 100% participating interest in the said PY-1 Field where the Surya well is been drilled.

Earlier in September 2012, the company had informed that it had drilled the multilateral well ‘Surya’. Subsequent to drilling and completion of Surya well, the company made efforts to activate this well by using Nitrogen since the gas and oil/condensate production was impeded due to loss of drilling fluids while drilling in the basement reservoir, which seems to be partially depleted in this sector.

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company was the first private company in India to enter into field of oil and gas exploration. The company’s operational activities commenced in 1991 with the Government of India announcing the fourth round of exploration bidding for private sector participation.
