Chhattisgarh procures 59.73 lakh tons of paddy under PSS

In Kharif marketing season (KMS) 2011-12, Chhattisgarh has procured 59.73 lakh tons of paddy through co-operative societies under price support scheme (PSS) and 59.38 lakh tons of paddy was transferred to Chhattisgarh State Co-operative Marketing Federation (C.G. MARKFED), as per Minister of State (IC) for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution KV Thomas and report compiled by the State Government.

Besides, the State Government is in the process of ascertaining the reasons for supply of 0.35 lakh tons less of paddy by co-operative societies to C.G.MARKFED. The shortfall of supply for 0.35 lakh tons of paddy to C.G.MARKFED in the mean time has been adjusted with the amount of commission payable to societies.

The state of Chhattisgarh has undertaken the responsibility for procurement and distribution themselves as it has adopted the decentralized procurement (DCP) scheme.
