Indian rupee was trading stronger against US dollar on Thursday as sentiments got boost as preliminary data released by the commerce ministry stated that India's exports rose by 22.36 per cent to $33.81 billion in February on account of healthy growth in sectors like engineering, petroleum and chemicals, even as the trade deficit widened to $21.19 billion. Meanwhile, selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) seems unstoppable given the rising geopolitical tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as they have net sold shares worth Rs 4,338.94 crore. However, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) have tried to compensate the FII outflow by purchasing shares worth Rs 3,061.70 crore on March 2, as per provisional data available on the NSE. On the global front, euro was pinned near a 21-month low on Thursday by worries that Russia's invasion of Ukraine will hurt European growth.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 75.63, stronger by 17 paise from its previous close of 75.80 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 75.77 and 75.60 respectively.
