Petronet LNG has approached Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) offering 5.2 percent stake in the company which was previously held by Asian Development Bank (ADB). Public sector oil firms hold 50 per cent stake in the company and Oil Secretary is the Chairman.
Earlier, Oil Ministry had blocked the move of buying ADB’s stake in Petronet by Indian PSUs namely Indian Oil, Oil & Natural Gas Corp, Bharat Petroleum and GAIL India as it would have turned Petronet into a public sector company.
Petronet LNG is one of the leading players in oil and natural gas industry space. It has India’s first and largest LNG supply terminal located at Dahej.
