Hindustan Aeronautics introduces small civil transport aircraft ‘Hindustan 228’

In the first major attempt in India to develop small civil transport aircraft, Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) has introduced Hindustan 228, a 19-seater aircraft that can be operated even in semi-prepared and unpaved airstrips. HAL is making six more such aircraft. The 19-seater aircraft has no toilet. And if the toilet is added then seating capacity will be 17. The engine of the aircraft is not made in India.

Hindustan Aeronautics is Bengaluru based Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSU) Company engaged in the design, development, manufacture, repair, overhaul, upgrade and servicing of a wide range of products including, aircraft, helicopters, aero-engines, avionics, accessories and aerospace structures.
