Gujarat Congress launched the ‘Azadi Gaurav Yathra’ today from Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, to commemorate 75 years of independence and showcase the role played by the party in the freedom struggle and the country’s development after 1947.
The entire 1,171-km yatra is being coordinated by the Seva Dal, the social services wing of the party. The padayatra will pass through five districts in North Gujarat and will cover four states before reaching its final destination at Delhi’s Raj Ghat on June 1. ‘Azadi Gaurav Yatra’ was flagged off from Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati by AICC in-charge for Gujarat Raghu Sharma, Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor and party MLA and Leader of Opposition Sukhram Rathwa, among other leaders.
