The proceedings of the Lok Sabha (LS) and Rajya Sabha (RS) were adjourned sine die today, one day ahead of its schedule.
As the LS met for the day, Speaker Om Birla made the valedictory reference, summing up the proceedings of the session. He later adjourned the House sine die. Meanwhile, RS proceedings were adjourned sine die without the customary closing remarks by the Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu as the Shiv Sena and other opposition MPs raised issues like price hike and the alleged misappropriation of funds collected to save aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Congress members also supported the Shiv Sena, saying if the issue of price rise was not allowed for a debate, at least a discussion on this alleged ‘scam’ should be taken up. RS Chairman asked the MPs to not disturb the proceedings. With opposition MPs unrelenting, he adjourned the proceedings sine die.
The second half of the budget session began on March 14 and was scheduled to go on till April 08.
