Just In: RBI hikes repo rate by 40 bps to 4.40%

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has hiked repo rate by 40 bps to 4.40 per cent with immediate effect. The announcement comes after the bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), headed by Das, met on 2-4 May in an off-cycle meeting.
