Delimitation Commission submits final order to redraw electoral map of J&K

The Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) submitted its final report today. According to the report, the commission has proposed increasing the number of Assembly seats. Jammu division is likely to have 43 constituencies while the Kashmir division is likely to have 47 assembly seats. Now, J&K will have 90 Assembly seats. 

The three-member Delimitation Commission on J&K, headed by Justice (retd) Ranjana Desai. It also includes Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and the J&K electoral officer as ex-officio member. The delimitation exercise was completed in two years. The Commission was constituted to redraw the Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies of J&K.
