Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar joins BJP

Former Congress leader Sunil Jakhar joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today in presence of party president JP Nadda in Delhi. Sunil Jakhar had quit the Congress party on 14 May over his criticism of former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Former Congress leader, Jakhar was removed from all party posts by the Congress disciplinary committee following allegations of anti-party activities by certain Punjab unit leaders against him.

After joining the BJP Jakhar said that, three generations of his family served the Congress party over the last 50 years and now broken with grand old party as he was questioned for raising issues against divisive politics. Sunil Jakhar, is the second Congress leader to join hands with the BJP’s after former CM Captain Amarinder Singh allied his party with the BJP.
