Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday tracking gains in domestic equities. However, surging global crude prices and persistent foreign capital outflows capped further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the capital market on Tuesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,393.45 crore, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, investors are awaiting the release of minutes of US Fed's May policy review later in the day.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 77.51, stronger by 6 paise from its previous close of 77.57 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 77.5475 and 77.44 respectively.
