Vinai Kumar Saxena takes oath as Lt Governor of Delhi

Vinai Kumar Saxena took oath as the 22nd Lieutenant (LT)-Governor of Delhi in a ceremony held at Raj Niwas today. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court Vipin Sanghi.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his Cabinet colleagues, Union minister Giriraj Singh, Delhi MPs and MLAs, and top bureaucrats of the city government were present in the ceremony. After the ceremony Saxena said that, he would work as the city's local guardian and not as a lieutenant-governor. Pollution is a major issue in Delhi and he will try to solve this problem along with the Centre, Delhi Govt & local citizens, he added.

Vinai Kumar Saxena was appointed the Lt Governor of Delhi on May 23., after his predecessor Anil Baijal resigned as LG on May 18 citing ‘personal reasons’.
