Suzlon Group’s - UK subsidiary - RE power UK, has inked two new contracts of totaling 16.4 MW. The company will be supplying wind turbines for a new wind farm at Wear Point in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, as well as the Avonmouth wind farm in south west England.
Wear Point, jointly owned by infrastructure company John Laing and developer Infinergy, will consist of four MM82 turbines. The construction work at Wear Point will commence in summer 2013 and will be completed towards the end of the year.
Avonmouth Wind Farm, located at the Bristol sewage treatment works nearby, is being developed by Triodos Renewables Plc and GENeco - Wessex Water’s waste-to-energy company and will consist of four MM92 turbines. The four new turbines at Avonmouth are part of a wider strategy to increase renewable energy at Wessex water’s sewage treatment works. They will be part of a renewable energy mix of wind and anaerobic digestion which is already in operation at the site.
Construction at Avonmouth is due to start in the summer and will be completed in December 2013, Triodos Renewables plc are constructing another wind farm on a brown field site as part of it’s commitment to investing in renewable projects that have minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Wear Point and Avonmouth wind farms will have a rated output of 8.2 MW each, enough to generate power for nearly 5,000 homes.
