Copper futures settled lower on Friday as the US dollar strengthened against its major peers after stronger-than-expected rise in US nonfarm payrolls, which fueled market expectations for higher interest rates from the US Federal Reserve in the coming months.

Copper futures for July delivery lost $0.0805 to settle at $4.4720 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
