Govt directs Coal India to be prepared to import 12 million tonnes of coal for power utilities

The government has directed Coal India (CIL) to be prepared to import 12 million tonnes (MT) of coal for power utilities for the next 13 months. It would be the first time since 2015 that the maharatna firm imports the dry fuel.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
