Following the alleged rape and murder of a woman professional in Noida, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has called for President Rule in the state. As per Mayawati, ‘crime is on the rise in UP. The latest case being a Dalit girl's rape and murder. It's unfortunate that the Samajwadi Party government instead of arresting the accused is trying to protect them. So it's time to ask for President's rule in Uttar Pradesh.’

Earlier on January 6, the Noida police arrested two suspects in connection with the Noida alleged rape-murder case. However, one suspect is reportedly absconding. Further, for negligence of duty, five constables have been suspended by the police, after the girl's family complained that they refused to register a missing complaint when they approached them.

The deceased, a 23-year-old went missing on January 5 night. Her body, bearing injury marks, was found on January 6 morning in Noida, Sector 63, in a semi-nude state.
