Export of oilmeal drops by 42.84% in December 2012

The country exported 544,946 tons of oilmeals in the month of December 2012 which is a drop of 42.84% compared to 953,526 tons of oilmeals export in month of December 2011, according to the reports compiled by The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India.

During the first nine months from April to December 2012 period, the total export of oilmeals has contracted by 26.02% and stood at 2,911,215 tons compared to 3,935,481 tons during the same period of last year. The shrinkage in export of oilmeals was mainly due to reduced demand from overseas market. The export of Soybean Meal stood at 494,456 tons in month of December 2012 while export of Rapeseed Meal stood at 26,590 tons in the same month.

During April to December, 2012 period the oilmeal import by South Korea from India stood at 636,331 tons compared to 553,795 tons last year consisting of 97,428 tons of soybean meal, 250,594 tons of castor meal and 288,309 tons of rapeseed meal. Vietnam another major market, imported 386,072 tons compared to 700,472 tons last year consisting of 180,269 tons of soybean meal, 27,889 tons of rapeseed meal, 1,412 tons of groundnut meal, 502 tons of castor meal and entire quantity of 176,000 tons of rice bran extraction.
