Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday amid easing crude oil prices globally. Meanwhile, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth said that he doesn't see any significant effect of the US fed interest rate hike on the Indian economy since the Reserve Bank of India had already taken adequate steps through two consecutive policy rate hikes. Although, persistent foreign fund outflows, a lackluster trend in domestic equities and strong American currency overseas capped the appreciation bias of the rupee. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 3,257.65 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed. According to RBI's monthly bulletin for June, the RBI turned net purchaser of the US currency in April, after it bought $1.965 billion from the spot market.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 78.07, stronger by 3 paise from its previous close of 78.10 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 78.0775 and 78.0200 respectively.
