Bharti Airtel surges on increasing price of 1GB 2G data plan

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 335.00, up by 4.70 points or 1.42% from its previous closing of Rs. 330.30 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 332.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 336.30 and Rs. 331.35 respectively. So far 100946 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 400.90 on 03-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 238.50 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 336.30 and Rs. 319.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 126799.53 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.50 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.91% and 6.60% respectively.

Bharti Airtel has increased the price of its 1GB 2G data plan by 25%. As per the revision, Airtel 2G customers have to pay Rs 125 for 1GB of data, which was Rs 100 earlier. The entity has also decided to increase both data and voice prices in the future in line with the rise in cost structure. For leading mobile operators, 2G data revenue is 3-4 per cent of total revenue, so to recover the increasing cost, it has taken this step.
