Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Monday

Most of the Asian markets traded lower in early deals on Monday, due to risk aversion in the market with the intensified fears over global recession followed by the aggressive interest rate hike by majority of central banks to cop up with the soaring inflation. Sharp correction in materials and energy stocks in line with sharp correction in crude oil prices also saddled indices of Asian market. Japan’s Nikkei marked its lowest hit in three months. Additionally, exports of Japan declined considerably with the stronger local currency yen.

Nikkei 225 down by 318.02 points or 1.22% to 25,644.98, Taiwan lower by 163.54 points or 1.05% to 15,477.72, KOSPI shrunk by 61.43 points or 2.52% to 2,379.50, Jakarta Composite declined by 48.13 points or 0.69% to 6,888.84, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI narrowed by 17.84 points or 1.22% to 1,438.90.

Bucking the trend, Straight times up 2.26 points or 0.07% to 3,100.35, Hang Seng increased by 34.16 points 0.16% to 21,109.16 and Shanghai lifted by 0.90 points or 0.03% to 3,317.69.
