Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday amid persistent foreign fund outflows in the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 925.22 crore, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, strong American currency at overseas market also weighed on rupee sentiments. However, RBI had announced a slew of measures on Wednesday to boost foreign exchange inflows in efforts to curb the fall of the rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 79.24, weaker by 11 paise from its previous close of 79.13 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 79.2550 and 79.2000 respectively.
