UltraTech Cement gets five-star rating for ten limestone mines

14 Jul 2022 Evaluate

UltraTech Cement has been awarded a five-star rating for ten of its limestone mines. A five-star rating is for sustainable mine management, by the Ministry of Mines and Indian Bureau of Mines. This was awarded for FY 2020-21, with a total of ten 5-Star rating awards.

Conceptualised by the Ministry of Mines, the star ratings are based on adoption of best practices for implementation of Sustainable Development Framework in mining. A five-star rating, highest in the rating scheme, is given to mines which performed best on parameters such as scientific, efficient and sustainable mining, compliance of approved production, land, resettlement and other social impacts.

UltraTech Cement is the largest manufacturer of grey cement, Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and white cement in India.
