Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday amid fresh foreign fund inflows in the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors turned net buyers in the capital market, as they bought shares worth Rs 309 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed. On the economic front, wholesale price-based inflation eased to a three-month low of 15.18 percent in June on a sharp decline in the prices of minerals. Although, strong American currency in the overseas markets capped the gains of the domestic unit.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 79.85, stronger by 14 paise from its previous close of 79.99 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 79.9600 and 79.8400 respectively.
