Indian rupee strengthens marginally against US dollar on Tuesday

Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the US dollar on Tuesday amid fund inflows in the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital market on Monday as they purchased shares worth Rs 156.08 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were also net buyers, buying stocks worth Rs 844.33 crore, exchange data showed. Although, Indian rupee had breached the 80-mark against the US dollar - a historic low for the Indian currency after crude oil surged. 

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 79.94, stronger by 4 paise from its previous close of 79.98 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 80.0550 and 79.8750 respectively.
