Asian markets trade mixed on Thursday

Most of the Asian markets were trading mixed on Thursday as worries about economic slowdown, inflation and interest rate hike concerns continued to weigh on the market sentiments. Meanwhile, investors are cautiously awaiting monetary policy announcements by the Bank of Japan and the European Central Bank later in the day. Chinese shares declined due to concerns over China’s economic slowdown. While, US President Joe Biden said he is planning to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping by the end of the month. Japanese shares gained in line with the broadly positive cues from Wall Street overnight.

Nikkei 225 rose by 122.74 points or 0.44% to 27,803, Taiwan soared by 204.48 points or 1.39% to 14,937.70, KOSPI lifted by 22.95 points or 0.96% to 2,409.80, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI enlarged by 11.70 points or 0.81% to 1,448.68.

Straights times declined by 16.99 points or 0.54% to 3,153.30, Hang Seng dipped by 174.29 points 0.83% to 20,715.93, Jakarta Composite down by 54.09 points or 0.79% to 6,820.65, and Shanghai dropped by 17.71 points or 0.54% to 3,287.01.
