Petronet get nod to LNG terminal at Gangavaram

16 Jan 2013 Evaluate

Petronet LNG, one leading players in oil and natural gas industry space, has received approval to set up its third LNG terminal at Gangavaram, Andhra Pradesh. The capacity of terminal will be 5 million tonne per annum and the approximate cost for terminal will be Rs 5,000 crore. The terminal is expected to be complete by end-2016.

Meanwhile, the company is working towards short-listing of potential contractors for construction of the project while pre-project activities are on the way of completion.

Earlier, Petronet LNG is all set to commission Rs 4,200-crore LNG terminal at Puthuvype in Kochi by March end. The terminal’s work is almost completed and final testing of some equipment is going on. However, the non-availability of pipeline infrastructure that is crucial for transmission of gas in states of Karnataka and Kerala will limit the benefit to one mtpa. Further, the benefits from the new capacities are not likely to accrue in the near term.
