Asian markets end mostly higher on Tuesday

09 Aug 2022 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly higher on Tuesday despite worries over inflation and rate-hike uncertainties in the United States. Investors are awaiting key US inflation data due on Wednesday that would determine the pace of future interest rate hikes by the US Fed. However, Japanese shares declined as disappointing corporate earnings news weighed on Japan’s market sentiment. Japanese technology Company SoftBank Group shares dropped around 7 percent after its Vision Fund reported a 2.93 trillion Japanese yen ($21.68 billion) loss for the June quarter on Monday after the market close. Hong Kong shares slipped after the government denied a suggestion that it was considering removing an extra stamp duty for mainland Chinese home buyers in the city. Meanwhile, Singapore market was closed for National Day holiday.
