10 Aug 2022 Evaluate

Nitish Kumar took the oath as the chief minister (CM) of Bihar for the 8th time in a ceremony at Raj Bhawan today, a day after he resigned from the post of the CM of the BJP-led NDA. RJD's Tejashwi Yadav took oath as deputy chief minister.

Soon after he was sworn in as CM, Nitish Kumar said ‘that the JD(U) had collectively decided to exit the alliance with the BJP. ‘The party made the decision together (to leave BJP)…whether I will stay or not (till 2024)…they can say what they want, but I will not live in the year 2014’.  Opposition leaders like former CM Rabri Devi and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav were present in the ceremony. Meanwhile, the BJP is out on streets in Patna, protesting against the new alliance. The cabinet expansion will likely to take place after August 15.
