Asian markets settle on mixed note on Friday

12 Aug 2022 Evaluate
Asian markets settled on a mixed note on Friday as recession worries persisted, amid top federal reserve officials signaled they expect interest rate hikes to continue into 2023. Chinese shares dropped as several Covid-hit cities imposed fresh restrictions and lockdowns to contain flare-ups that are again threatening to disrupt local economies. Japanese shares jumped to a seven-month high as signs of cooling US inflation raised expectations for smaller US Federal Reserve interest rate hikes ahead. Meanwhile, Malaysian shares were closed on almost flat note today.
