Bond yields edges higher on Tuesday

Bond yields edged higher on Tuesday as in a bid to promote ease of doing business, the finance ministry notified the consolidated rules for overseas investment by Indian entities.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields rose on Monday, as investors awaited a Federal Reserve gathering later this week in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, that is expected to reinforce the central bank's commitment to stamping out inflation. Furthermore, oil prices edged up after Saudi Arabia warned that OPEC could cut output to correct a recent drop in oil futures.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point higher at 7.28% from its previous close of 7.27% on Monday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 2 basis points higher at 6.99% from its previous close of 6.97% on Monday.
