IOC to invest Rs 2 lakh crore to achieve net-zero operational carbon emissions by 2046

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is planning to invest Rs 2 lakh crore to achieve net-zero operational carbon emissions by 2046. The target set is in line with India's aim to reach net-zero emissions by 2070.

The company will use a combination of energy efficiency measures, electrification of processes and fuel replacement. The investment of over Rs 2 lakh crore will help mitigate emissions to about 0.7 billion metric tonnes of carbon dioxide a year by then.

IOC is the largest enterprise in the country and the foremost ranked Fortune Global 500 Company in India and has presence in the complete hydrocarbon value chain from downstream refining & marketing, pipeline transportation, Petrochemicals, E&P and Gas Marketing.
