Indian rupee weakened to fresh all-time low against the US dollar in early trade on Monday tracking the strength of the American currency at overseas markets after US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s signal that the central bank will raise interest rates further to battle inflation. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 51.12 crore on Friday, exchange data showed. Further, firm crude oil prices also weighed on rupee sentiments.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 80.04, weaker by 20 paise from its previous close of 79.84 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 80.15 and 79.96 respectively.
