50 J-K Congress leaders quit party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad

Over 50 Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders today resigned from party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Leaders including, former deputy chief minister Tara Chand, former ministers Abdul Majid Wani, Manohar Lal Sharma, Gharu Ram and former MLA Balwan Singh, announced their resignations from their party, including its primary membership. They submitted a joint resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Senior Congress leader and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad in a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday resigned from all positions of the Congress together with the first membership of the party. Meanwhile, Congress slammed Ghulam Nabi Azad saying he has been tasked to ‘slander’ the party and is diminishing himself further by doing so.

Ghulam Nabi Azad will soon a launch a national-level party from Jammu and Kashmir. Over a dozen prominent Congress leaders, including former ministers and legislators, besides hundreds of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, municipal corporators and district and block level leaders have already left the Congress to join Azad.
