Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday after Chinese policymakers pledged to make renewed efforts to boost its economy, which has improved demand for red metal. However, some gains were capped by prospects of further aggressive policy tightening by the US Federal Reserve to tame inflation.

Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0485 to settle at $3.4620 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 0.39 percent at $7,683 a ton.
