Tata Communications’ launches 100G services on TGN-A subsea cable system

25 Jan 2013 Evaluate

Tata Communications has launched 100 gigabits per second-enabled services on its TGN-Atlantic (TGN-A) subsea cable system - from New York to London. Using Ciena’s GeoMesh networking solution (based on its market-leading 6500 Packet-Optical Platform powered by WaveLogic 3 coherent optical processors and optical bypass), the company is upgrading its TGN-A submarine cable to 100G - the first on its global submarine network.

This upgrade will deliver bandwidth and provide flexibility to carriers and enterprises to scale their network seamlessly and meet their increasing capacity demands, driven by the use of cloud computing and mobile devices, as well as other high-bandwidth services including music / HD video downloading and social networking applications. It will be instrumental in increasing carrier network performance through consolidation of transport traffic.

Tata Communications is a leading global provider of a new world of communications. With a leadership position in emerging markets, Tata Communications leverages its advanced solutions capabilities and domain expertise across its global and pan-India network to deliver managed solutions to multi-national enterprises, service providers and Indian consumers.
