Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Tuesday as a rally in the American currency paused, even as investors cautiously awaiting RBI's meetings decision due on Friday. Although, escalating risks of a global recession following aggressive monetary tightening around the globe and foreign fund outflows limited further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets as they offloaded shares worth Rs 5,101.30 crore on Monday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 81.35, stronger by 32 paise from its previous close of 81.67 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 81.48 and 81.3025 respectively.
