SAIL inaugurates new end-forging plant at Bhilai Steel Plant

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has inaugurated the new end-forging plant on January 21, 2013. The plant has been installed at a cost of approximately Rs 45.54 crore in Bhilai Steel Plant’s Rail & Structural Mill for forging of thick web assymetric rails. The new end-forged ZU - 1- 60 profile of rails would be used for manufacture of track switches for the Indian Railways.

The company’s Bhilai Steel Plant, the sole supplier of rails to Indian Railways including long rails in lengths of 130 and 260 metre, has begun commercial production of this new profile of rails. This profile at present is being imported by Indian Railways.

SAIL is India’s largest state-owned iron ore producer established in 1954. It is one the leading steel-making company in India. It has country’s second largest mines network. All plants of SAIL are ISO certified.
