Assembly Elections 2022: Himachal Pradesh to go to polls on November 12

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the upcoming assembly election in Himachal Pradesh. The state will vote on November 12 in a single phase to elect its next government.

The process of polling in Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 will commence with gazette notification for the on October 17. Last date for filing nominations will be October 25 and the date for scrutiny of nominations will be October 27. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their candidature till October 29. The Counting of votes will take place on December 8, 2022 and the results will be announced the same day. At present, the 68-seat Himachal Pradesh Assembly, the BJP has 45 MLAs, while Congress has 22 and CPIM has 1 MLA. The term of 68-seat Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will end in January next year.

Polling schedule for Gujarat was not announced in today’s press conference. In the upcoming state elections, The AAP is looking to set foot in Himachal Pradesh and in Gujarat.
