Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the US dollar on Wednesday tracking a firm trend in domestic equities and fall in oil prices. Although, persistent foreign capital outflows capped the gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets as they offloaded shares worth Rs153.40 crore on Tuesday, exchange data showed. Investors were still cautious with expectations that the US Federal Reserve would push ahead with its aggressive tightening plans to cool off inflation.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.38, stronger by 2 paise from its previous close of 82.40 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.3950 and 82.3225 respectively.
