Asian markets settle mostly lower on Thursday

20 Oct 2022 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly lower on Thursday, tracking a weak Wall Street performance overnight amidst worries over inflation. Further, interest rate hikes and recession fears also weighed on markets' sentiments. Chinese shares declined on growing concerns over Chinese economy following rising Covid cases in the country and zero-Covid lockdown policy. Meanwhile, the Japanese yen weakened to the 150 level against the US dollar amidst the continuing monetary policy divergence between a dovish Bank of Japan and a hawkish US Federal Reserve.
