Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Thursday

Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday after speculation that the US Federal Reserve might slow the pace of its interest rate hikes. Although, increase in oil prices globally and foreign fund outflows limited the rupee’s gains. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets as they offloaded shares worth Rs 247.01 crore on Tuesday, exchange data showed. The forex market was closed yesterday on account of Diwali Balipratipada.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.36, stronger by 45 paise from its previous close of 82.81 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.37 and 82.14 respectively.
