Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday, despite fresh foreign capital infusion in the capital markets. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned net buyers in the capital markets as they bought shares worth Rs 2,818.40 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed. On the global front, the Japanese yen wobbled after the BOJ maintained its ultra-low interest rates and dovish stance, while the US dollar struggled to hold on to its overnight gains as expectations for a pivot by the US Federal Reserve gathered pace.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.42, weaker by 9 paise from its previous close of 82.33 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.4350 and 82.29 respectively.
