Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Monday

Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Monday, tracking positive trend in domestic equities along with fresh foreign fund inflows. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,568.75 crore on Friday, exchange data showed. Further, fall in crude oil prices also supported rupee sentiments. Although, investors are cautiously eyeing crucial meetings from the US Fed, the Bank of England and a surprise meeting of the RBI.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.41, stronger by 6 paise from its previous close of 82.47 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.4450 and 82.3250 respectively.
